Look chic at the office with minimal effort and no time at all with these 10 style tips. These are some of my essential fashion 'do's for a polished and professional look every day.

1. Shop For Your Body

Trends come and go, and as much as we love fashion it is more important to think about what flatters your body than what newest trend are. A piece may look good on the mannequin but not fit your body well at all. When choosing clothes remember that a top style secret is to pick what works for your body, not what the magazine says is trendy.

2. Embrace the Basics

You can never go wrong mixing basic neutrals for the office. Invest in professional basics in neutral tones that you can mix and match effectively. These staples can take you from season to season with different accessories and will make up the backbone of your wardrobe.

3. Play with Layers

Add interest to your outfit by playing with layers to add texture and depth. Cadigan sweaters, colored blouses, structured blazers and vests are great ways to layer your professional look. Layering allows you to remake and repurpose the same pieces in new ways to add variety.

4. Add a Pop of Color

A pop of color is a great way to add interest to your outfit. Stockpile colorful tops that you can mix with basics to add color to your neutral suits. I also love a bright pair of shoes or statement tote bag to bring a new hue to your look.

6. Invest in Key Pieces

One of the best style secrets is knowing where to invest your money and splurge, and when to search for a bargain.  Invest in a quality pieces where in counts, and then mix and match with other pieces from Target or H&M. Good pieces to invest in are the ones that you wear over and over such as a black pencil skirt, leather tote bag and neutral heels.

7. Get to Know Your Tailor

Finding a tailor who can make sure your clothes fit like a glove is a top style secret. Ill fitting clothing look cheap and unflattering - whereas an affordable suit can look like a designer piece if the fit is on point.

8. Accessories Make The Outfit

Accessories can take a work outfit from the office to a night on a town. Invest in accessories that can transform a day look to an evening look. Office accessories should be classy and subtle, and you can trade them out for bolder pieces at the end of the work day.

9. Avoid Impulse Purchases

Use your money wisely by limiting the number of times you shop and buying pieces you know you need. I keep a list of the items I want to add to my wardrobe, and purchase thing from the list to avoid impulse buys. Buying a few good pieces per season versus spur of the moment purchases lets you invest in quality versus quantity.

Add just a few touches of makeup to highlight your features and keep mornings simple.
