What to Wear to Work: Black Cardigan and White Dress

Dress: White House Black Market, similar here
Shoes: White House Black Market, similar here
Cardigan: Gap, similar here
Purse: Calvin Klein

Black and white is a classic summer combination, and I absolutely LOVE this white dress with black accessories. Outside the office, I would wear it along, with some black shoes and jewelry, but inside the office, a black sweater keeps off the chill from the A/C. Adding the belt around the sweater makes the outfit a bit more interesting than leaving the belt around only the dress.

Summer Recipe: Asian Chicken Salad

Summer is time for light and healthy meals with fresh ingredients. I love this Asian Chicken Salad because it is full of flavor, while still being a healthy and easy weeknight meal. Make a big batch and then take it for lunch to work the next day.

This recipe is from The Food Network and makes 4 servings.

Asian Chicken Salad

The Food Network Magazine

Ingredients:

1/3 Cup Rice Vinegar
2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
2 Tablespoons Honey Mustard
1 Tablespoon Grated, Peeled Ginger
3 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
3 Tablespoons Sesame Oil
1 Lb Skinless Chicken Breast
1 Head Napa Cabbage Chopped
1 Medium Carrot Sliced
4 Scallions Thinly Sliced
1/4 Lb Snow Peas Sliced
Kosher Salt to taste
1/2 Cup Chow Mein Noodles

Directions:

Make the dressing first by combining the rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey mustard, ginger, vegetable oil and sesame oil. Whisk together until completely combined. Pour 1/4 of the dressing into a separate bowl and add the chicken breast chopped. Allow chicken to marinate in the dressing for about 10 minutes. Take the chicken out of the marinate and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side until cooked through. Meanwhile toss all the salad vegetables in a large bowl: cabbage, carrots, scallions and snow peas. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cut the chicken into bit sized pieces and toss into salad with chow mien noodles. Serve with dressing on the side and enjoy!

Summer Pop of Color to Wear to the Office

The official start of summer was Sunday, so break out the colorful accessories this week to celebrate this bright time of year! I love adding a pop of color to a simple work outfit to mix things up and have fun with professional basics. There are many ways to add a colorful hue, and below are some of my favorite ways of incorporating accent colors into your work looks.

1. Colorful Power Shoe

Men wear power ties to the office...and women have their power shoes. My red pumps are one of my absolute favorite accessories, and you will be surprised how easy it is to wear these colorful stems with simple basic pieces.

2. Colorful Camis

Wear bright, colorful camis under black, navy or grey suits to add dimension and interest to a basic look. Orange is one of my favorite bright colors to match with basics, and in the summer orange looks especially festive paired with white. You can find camis in all colors at Ann Taylor or Banana Republic and it is a great, affordable way to switch up your look.

3. Hot Hued Handbag

Another way to experiment with color is with handbags and tote bags in bright hues. Black and nude totes are great essentials because they match with everything, but invest in a statement bag to wear with certain outfits for a fun way to liven up your wardrobe. The red tote shown above is MICHAEL Michael Kors 'Morgan Large Tote' available at Nordstrom.

4. Standout Sweater or Scarf

Add color to your outfit with a bright scarf or sweater over a simple sheath dress or suit. Colorful accessories are great because they mix and match well with a variety of pieces in your closet. Create endless outfits by utilizing these colorful pieces with simple basics.

5. Pop of Colorful Jewelry

There is no better way to add color easily to an office look than with jewelry. I love statement necklaces and earring that bring instant interest to any professional outfit. Keep pieces classic and clean but don't be afraid to experiment with bold colors paired with neutrals.

Royal Ascot 2015: We're Off to the Races!

Shoes: Corso Como

This weekend was the most FABULOUS day of the British summer social season - Day 5 of the Royal Ascot!! I went with a group of ex-pat American friends and we had a wonderful time together! The ladies all wore stunning hats and the gentlemen wore top hats and together we saw the Queen arrive in her carriage, had British tea at the Ascot's Queen Anne tea room, shared buckets of Pimms (a traditional British alcholic drink mixed with fruit and served only during the summer) and champagne, placed bets on all the races and survived a British thunderstorm and downpour that hit right as we were trying to get the train back to London. This is one of the classic British experiences and I HIGHLY recommend it!!

Aaaand they're off - the first race!

Love this shot of the jockey and horse!

Side profile of my hat - I loved these feathers!

Last race of the day - coming down the home stretch!!

Warm weather, humid afternoons, and sunny days are finally here. As you break out the white pants, flowy tops and fun sandals - think about how you are changing and updating your makeup for summer as well. Below are my 10 summer makeup essentials to help you look professional and chic as you walk through the humid city to work every morning. Pack these in your work tote for touch ups, or keep them in your desk to stay looking fresh throughout the day.

1. Caudalie Grape Water Mist

Keep your face dry and clean with these blotter papers from Sephora. Perfect to toss in your tote bag and touch up anytime. These blotting sheets are infused with skin smoothing ingredients to keep your face feeling amazing.

4. Hourglass Ambient Light Palette

This collection of finishing powders will keep your skin light and bright this summer. Cloak imperfections, filter harsh light and make skin appear soft and lit from within using these three carefully chosen neutral shades.

5. Waterproof Mascara

bareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara

This waterproof mascara gives your eyes definition without smudging in the humid summer weather. I love bareMinerals formula because it is free of parabens, sulfates or synthetic dyes so you can feel good about the product.

6. Boscia BB Cream

B.B. Cream Borad Spectrum SPF

Summer is a great time to trade in the heavy foundation and powder for a lighter tinted BB Cream. There is nothing worse than caking on makeup in hot weather that ends up looking awful after 10 minutes in the humidity. This BB cream covers flaws and has SPF to protect from the sun.

7. Clear Brow Gel

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel

Keep your brows in place during hot humid weather with a clear brow gel. This long wearing gel will define your brows and makes a big difference, while still keeping a natural look.

8. Butter London Nail Polish - Jolly Good

Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer

Nothing says summer quite like a fun summer nail polish color. This light coral color is subtle enough to still be professional, while embracing fun summer hues. If you like to wear a more neutral color to the office, save this one for the weekend or your next vacation.

9. Oil-Free UV Protector Broad Spectrum Sunscreen

Shiseido Broad Spectrum SPF

The most important thing to remember to wear in the summer is...you guessed it - sunscreen. Protect your skin with this incredible oil free uv protector broad spectrum sunscreen. This sunscreen gives you a pore free and shine free finish, that is perfect for the office.

10. NARS Limited Edition Lip Gloss

Christopher Kane for NARS Lip Gloss

This new NARS lip gloss by Christopher Kane has the ultimate long-lasting shine for summer. Available in 4 summery hues, this gloss is light and shiny for warm months, and keeps your lips moisturized and soft.

What to Wear to Work: Grey Skirt, Cream Blouse, Red Pumps

Cream Top: H&M, similar here and here | Grey Skirt: J. Crew
Red Belt: Target | Pumps: L.K. Bennett, similar here

This classic color combination is perfect for the conservative office, but also adds a pop of summer sunshine with the red belt and shoes! I definitely don't like matching too much, so I try to limit my matching accessories to no more than two, but here the red shoes and belt add just enough color to really bring the outfit to life. I've added the brown purse because it's another neutral color, but adds some texture with the crocodile embossing.

What to Wear on Weekends: Floral Summer Dress

Dress: Anne Elisaebeth Paris | Clutch: custom Amy Steel Bags | Pumps: Manolo Blahnik

This weekend I went to see La Boheme at the Royal Opera House and got a chance to wear this gorgeous summer dress! Summer is the best time of year to indulge in bright floral-printed dresses, and Anne Elisabeth makes absolutely stunning ones! I was lucky enough to get this one from her shop in Paris, but it looks like she'll ship to the US from her website. The purple clutch was a custom color from Amy Steel, who makes beautiful bags!

Fashion Round-Up: Tangerine Work Essentials

Fashion experts at Pantone have listed the color "Tangerine" as one of Summer 2015's go-to hues. This playful and energizing color adds life and brightness to any outfit, without becoming overbearing. Pantone Color Institute, Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman writes, "Good natured and and friendly, but with a tangy edge, this fun-loving color invites a smile."  Here is a round-up of some of my favorite professional essentials for summer in this trendy and fun, summer color.

Pair this color with more neutral hues for the office, to add a pop of color while staying professional and chic. A tangerine colored dress, trench coat, earrings or pop of lipstick can be subtle when paired with more simple colors. Experiment with mixing this color into your work wardrobe to switch things up this summer.

What to Wear to Work: Cobalt Sweater, Nude Pumps

Skirt: J. Crew | Sweater: Target, similar color here and here

Cobalt is the PERFECT color for summer - I absolutely love this shade of blue! Paired with grey it looks quite sophisticated for the office. I've added this super cute vintage clutch that was an accidental eBay find, but is definitely going to be a go-to essential for the summer, with its multi-colored floral design. Plus, it matches my favorite Manolo pumps!
