For the cheese and cracker appetizer, choose and arrange a handful of delicious cheeses on a tray. Create a festive wreath made of herbs, bay leaves, olives and raspberries. Make or buy a cheese ball, divide in half, and top with thin sliced almonds for a decorative twist. Serve an assortment of crackers to give your guests a variety of options to pair with the cheeses.

Festive holiday cookies are a must have at any winter cocktail party. Martha Stewart has an amazing recipe for sugar cookies with candy cane pieces inside. If you are worried about having time to bake cookies from scratch, make the sugar cookie batter ahead of time on the weekend and then roll out and bake the cookies before your guests come. This simple recipe has only 9 ingredients and the cookies bake in about 12 minutes - perfect for the woman with limited time to shop and cook.

Chocolate Truffles

Whole Foods Organic Chocolate Truffles

It's not a party without some chocolate! These Whole Foods chocolate truffles are a delicious and easy treat. Just arrange them on a silver or gold platter and they'll look beautiful on the table.

Holiday Themed Veggie Tray

A decorative holiday themed vegetable tray is a great way to add something healthy to your cocktail party. Choose an either all white veggie tray, or a festive red and green tray. For an all white tray arrange cauliflower, white asparagus cut up in short pieces, mushrooms, and boiled potatoes peeled and cubed. Use a creamy white sauce like ranch for dipping. For a red and green tray, arrange tomatoes, red peppers, cucumbers, and broccoli. For the dip, mix red-wine vinaigrette with olive oil and garnish with a few red pepper flakes for a delicious festive sauce.

Hot Chocolate

William Sonoma Classic Hot Chocolate & Peppermint Marshmallows

Hot chocolate is the perfect drink for a winter cocktail party. Any quality hot chocolate mix is sure to be a hit with your guests, but one of my favorites is the William Sonoma classic hot chocolate or peppermint hot chocolate.  This mix is easy to make, but tastes deliciously homemade. I also love big fluffy, handcrafted marshmallows to put in the drink. William Sonoma makes peppermint marshmallows that will make your hot chocolate to die for!
